 Congratulations to Evan Spiegel, 2020 Distinguished Business Leader!
On Jan. 30, the L.A. Area Chamber held their 2020 Inaugural Dinner, recognizing some of the biggest influencers in Los Angeles. This year, the Chamber’s Distinguished Business Leader award went to L.A. native Evan Spiegel, Co-Founder and CEO of Snap Inc. Through Spiegel’s leadership and innovative thinking, Snap Inc. has created inclusive programming to support the arts, education and human rights.
Bixel Exchange is proud to partner on one such initiative, our Snap Design Academy, a five-week design course that opens career pathways in media for community college students. This initiative would not be possible without the support of pioneering executives such as Spiegel! Check out the photos from the event!
 Bixel on the Road: First Stop, Office Hours at Cross Campus Beverly Hills
On Jan. 29, the Startup LAunch Tech SBDC partnered with Cross Campus Beverly Hills to host office hours for our startups. Cross Campus was the perfect venue for founders to get one-on-one advice from our advisors on how to grow and stay on track for success. Over the course of six hours, we had 23 advising sessions with four advisors and 13 startups.

 Cornerstone OnDemand Hosts L.A. Tech Talent Pipeline Students
Our L.A. Tech Talent Pipeline program teamed up with Cornerstone OnDemand to provide students with a day of mock interviews, networking with industry professionals and a tech talent journey panel. We heard from Cornerstone’s Director of Strategic Program Management Paya Shah and Product Manager Eliot Sosa, as well as Gillette Nevado, a long-time Pipeline participant who is now interning at the company. These individuals have found success doing what they love by overcoming barriers and challenging norms. Their stories of grit and determination were inspiring!  Startup LAunch Company Named “Impact-Maker to Watch”
Bixel Exchange would like to congratulate Startup LAunch entrepreneur Elvina Beck, one of 32 honorees that have been named a 2020 Impact-Maker to Watch by Stratiscope! Each year, Stratiscope awards individuals who are making a positive impact in their communities in areas of high need.
Beck, founder of PodShare, creates pod-style living units that promote a minimalist approach to living affordably in unaffordable cities. This year, Beck filed for 501c(3) status and will be working closely with the city to bring her pilot program to Skid Row and downtown L.A. We can’t think of anyone more deserving of this award!
