Hello friend --
Bixel Exchanges celebrates community for the last Coworking Day of 2019
Thank you to all who attended our L.A. Tech Founders x Talent Coworking Day, the last one of 2019! This event brought familiar faces and introduced new ones who connected over similar passions, challenges and opportunities. We heard from speakers on an array of inspiring stories about overcoming adversity and how to thrive in Los Angeles, including Corneil Montgomery, Mike Gatto and our panel of esteemed judges. This year we introduced the Bixelite of the Year Pitch Off competition, where five startups shared with us why they are the next generation of CEOs in L.A. CreditStarter was named 2019’s Bixelite of the Year. From our Founders x Talent panel to our roundtable sessions, the day was packed with activities that aimed to bring the community together, create new connections and connect talent to opportunity. We want to thank Maesto Coffee, General Assembly, Verizon, Deloitte, Delta, AT&T and our attendees for taking the time to make this event possible. We hope to see you again in 2020 with more Coworking Days! See the photos.
As a special gift from our host, General Assembly, they are offering a $25 credit towards any GA workshops using code 2learningnewthings.
L.A. Tech Talent Pipeline across the city
L.A. Tech Talent Pipeline (LATTP) Director Lindsey Heisser was a panelist at the inaugural San Gabriel Valley Future of Work Conference, in partnership with Pasadena City College, that tackled questions around workforce trends, talent gaps and job seeker preparation. Heisser shared insights from the tech and media industry on the soft skills employers are seeking when hiring and innovative training models.
LATTP Manager Jaideep Upadhyay joined L.A. Youth at Work Senior Manager Ever Hilleprandt to present to students in the Coalition for Responsible Community Development’s high school program at Los Angeles Trade Technical College. They both shared potential career opportunities in their respective programs and provided the students with tips on how to craft their resume and nail their first interview.
