Chamber Hosts Diplomatic & Commercial Officers Group to Discuss the Global Water Crisis
On July 8, the Chamber’s Diplomatic & Commercial Officers Group (DCOG) held its first in-person session in two years. The session focused on the global water crisis and was attended by Consul Generals and other high-level representatives from the Los Angeles Diplomatic Corps. Keynote Speaker Martin Adams, General Manager of the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power, discussed the ongoing drought in our region, the current emergency measures in place for water conservation, as well as the prospects for global partnerships related to water technology, infrastructure and sustainable water resource management. U.S. Department of Commerce and Singapore Ministry of Communications and Information Launch Partnership Program to Empower Women in Tech
As part of the 2022 SelectUSA Investment Summit on June 26-29, U.S. Secretary of Commerce Gina M. Raimondo and Josephine Teo, Singapore’s Minister for Communications and Information, announced the launch of the U.S.-Singapore Women in Tech Partnership Program. The Port of Los Angeles and Port of Long Beach Receive Investment to Create the Goods Movement Training Campus
On June 30, California Gov. Gavin Newsom signed the state’s upcoming fiscal year budget, which allocates $2.3 billion toward port infrastructure improvements and upgrades. The budget sets aside $110 million for creation of a new Goods Movement Training Campus at the San Pedro Bay Port Complex, which will focus on worker skill development, upskilling and reskilling to address the rapidly changing needs of the logistics industry. The Biden Administration Launches Partnership Between Global Infrastructure and Investment
At the 2021 G7 Summit, President Biden and G7 leaders announced their intent to develop a values-driven, high-impact, and transparent infrastructure partnership to meet the enormous infrastructure needs of low and middle income countries while supporting the U.S. and its allies’ economic and national security interests. President Biden announced that the U.S. aims to mobilize $200 billion for Global Infrastructure (PGII) partnership over the next five years through grants, federal financing, and leveraging private sector investments.
