The Chamber puts the spotlight on work-life harmony

Work-life harmony is an issue addressed by many places of employment. In 2016, the Chamber launched the Work-Life Harmony Award to spotlight employers who implement extraordinary work-life harmony policies and practices for their employees and families. The Excellence in Work-Life Harmony Award provides companies a unique opportunity to showcase positive work-life harmony policies and practices, distinguishing them as an exemplary workplace for employees and their families. Beverly Center celebrates "Grand Reveal"

Chamber member Beverly Center was proud to celebrate their "Grand Reveal" last weekend. As part of the $500 million renovation, upgrades to the eight-story mall include a 25,000-square-foot ribbon of skylights, views of the Hollywood Hills and downtown Los Angeles, new street-level restaurants and an upgraded luxury wing. Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce Recognized by L.A. County Supervisors for Efforts to Increase College Attainment for Foster Youth

October 2, 2018

LOS ANGELES, CA— The L.A. County Board of Supervisors today recognized the Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce (Chamber) and John Burton Advocates for Youth for their efforts to increase college attainment for current and former foster youth in the region. The recognition preceded a board motion introduced by Supervisors Kathryn Barger and Janice Hahn to require county agencies to develop coordinated strategies to support foster youth when applying for and attending college and to designate the month of October “Foster Youth College Awareness Month.”

Canada's Premiers Address US Governors to Defend Commercial Ties

Last month at the Council of the Federation meeting, all 13 Canadian premiers signed a letter addressed to Gov. Brian Sandoval and to all U.S. governors, inviting them to defend the common interests of Canada and the United States, specifically with regards to the commercial relationship between the two countries.
 
"As leaders, we have the responsibility to work together to overcome issues that are impacting prosperity, jobs and competitiveness on both sides of our border. We are appreciative of your recent efforts to make your voices heard on these important issues. Accordingly, we are asking today for the continued support and partnership of all governors to maintain and strengthen the prosperity and competitiveness of the North American economic space."
